IMPORTANT: ETFMATIC’S EEA CONTRACTS ARE TRANSFERRED TO AION BANK
Dear Client,
As you may already have learned from recent press and our previous communication, we are delighted to announce that ETFmatic has joined forces with Aion Bank to continue to grow its offering of portfolio management services to its clients in the European Union. ETFmatic is now owned by Aion Bank. Aion is a full-service digital bank based in Belgium and supervised by the National Bank of Belgium (“NBB”) and the Financial Services and Markets Authority in Belgium (“FSMA”).
By partnering with Aion Bank, we can continue to service our clients in the European Union following Brexit. Our services will not change: we continue to use the same platform and technology, supported by the same experts.
In response to Brexit
ETFmatic will transfer its contracts with clients based in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) to Aion Bank.
What does it mean for me?
In practice, we have tried to limit the changes to a minimum but, unavoidably, a transfer of contract comes with a few changes that we summarise below.
i. You will have a new counterparty
The services previously delivered by ETFmatic will be delivered by Aion SA/NV, a credit institution incorporated as a limited liability company (“société anonyme”/”naamloze vennootschap”) under the laws of Belgium, having its registered office at Avenue de la Toison d'Or - Guldenvlieslaan 26/28, 1050 Brussels, Belgium, and registered with the Crossroad Bank of Enterprises under number 0403.199.306.
Aion will still rely on ETFmatic’s technology and know-how and ETFmatic will remain involved in the delivery of services.
ii. Your Terms and Conditions are updated
This transfer comes with an update of some of our terms and conditions to reflect Aion’s role and the fact that the terms and conditions will be governed by Belgian law. Please find the new terms and conditions here.
iii. The competent supervisors will be Belgian
Aion is supervised by the National Bank of Belgium (“NBB”) and must comply with rules of conduct when providing investment services, the control of which is entrusted with the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (“FSMA”).

iv. Your assets will be protected by the Belgian Guarantee Fund
All sums held in accounts with Aion, savings certificates and financial instruments are respectively protected under deposit guarantee and investor compensation schemes:
All sums held in accounts with Aion and savings certificates are covered by the Guarantee Fund up to EUR 100.000 (regardless of the currency) per depositor; and
Financial instruments are covered by the Guarantee Fund up to EUR 20.000 (regardless of the currency of the financial instruments).
